We made it out today as planned.  Put in a long day of travel.  Left at 6am and are now at Union Grove State Park in South Dakota.  See map below. Star represents where we are.  Drove 720 miles today!  Started off in storms and rain thru most of Indiana and Illinois.  It began to clear in Iowa.  The cool thing was that we had a tail wind most of the day, which is really unusual travelling west like this.  Normally we have a pretty strong headwind going across the open plains, going west.  For those who have driven an RV you know what a difference that makes.

We did a lot of preparation in getting ready for this trip.  Even though we very flexible while we travel, we put in a lot of milestones to reach on this trip to make sure that we make it to Alaska and back within the 2 months.  There was also a lot of planning around the home front making sure that things were square there while we were gone.

Here is a plug for  the folks at Monon Wealth Management http://mononwealth.com/  , Darrick, Stephanie and Cassondra who have been keeping track of the money side of things for us.  Thanks all!

Saturday evening - all set and ready to travel

Cindy driving thru monster storm in Illinois
Campground at Union Grove Campground in SD - Breezy 72 degrees (perfect)
Tomorrow's plans are to drive across I90 to Badlands National Park in SD.  There is about a 4 hour hike that we take every time we travel this way thru the Badlands.  After the hike it is onto Rapid City.
