Wednesday June 20 Jasper NP to Dawson Creek

Left Jasper NP around 7:30ish.  Gassed up in the town of Jasper, hooked up the Jeep and we were off on HW 16, which connected to HW 40, heading to Dawson Creek.  This was really the first day we really felt that we were on the path to Alaska.  The first part of HW 40 was a lonely 2 lane road.  Sometimes we would go for quite a while without seeing another car.  Crazy cool drive.   As we started getting close to Grand Prairie, it really changed, with the truck traffic going to and from what appeared to be oil fields.  All kinds of construction trucks and such.  The weather was really nice today, with highs near 85.  Supposed to change tomorrow with some rain moving in and back to cooler.

Back at Banff, we were warned about staying away from Grand Prairie by someone at the Info Center.  They said it had a really high crime rate.  So we scooted on by and headed to Dawson Creek.

Our campground at Dawson Creek is the typical side of the road campground with RV's all close together.  But a good place to park and hook up.  There was a walking path that goes all the way thru Dawson Creek.  The start of it was right down the road from our campground, so we walked it for a while.
