Saturday June 30 Denali Park Hiking

Our campground filled up last night with a lot of RV's as well as a bunch of college kids in tents.  Surprisingly, everyone was very respectful and it was a very quiet night.  Again, it is light all the time here, but people in the campgrounds still honor (for the most part) the quiet times.

Woke up to rain again this morning, but it cleared off before we headed for our first hike.  It looked like the kind of day that would rain off and on, so we brought along our rain gear.  Sure enough, it rained off and on all day.

We drove the Park Road as far as cars are allowed to go, which is about 15 miles.  Picked up a short trail that we hiked at the end called Savage River Loop.  Cool trail.  Drove back to the Wilderness Access Center (goofy name for a bus station) and bought tickets for an 8 hour bus trip for tomorrow which goes for most of the park road.  After that we did about 6 miles of the Triple Lakes Trail.

Weather today was cool at about 50 to start and ended around 60, with some rain.  We were lucky that we only got a little rain on our hikes.   It is supposed to rain for the next few days, but we are going to plug away here.  We have our rain gear, which is working really well.
