Sunday July 15 Drive to Seward

Drove from the Homer area to Seward today.   Repeated the same tracks as we did on previous days, except last 40 miles on Seward Highway.  The Seward Highway was much less busy than the drive to Homer.  Again, we were not sure what to expect in Seward.  Not a lot of campgrounds on what we originally looked at.

Seward has a fairly large city park campground.  I guess instead of having private campgrounds take the space, it is run by the city of Seward.  We decided to camp here today.  While this is typically the kind of campground we don't like, with rows of campers, it seems like a really nice area.  The views are fantastic everywhere you look.  Lots of activity on the water with ships and smaller boats coming and going.   Lots of people like us, who are very respectful, so it seems a very quiet place, in spite of lots of campers.   Being a city park, there is no booze allowed.  Seems like a rule that is ignored, but it allows the folks running the place a quick reason to kick someone out.

Another cool reason we like the campground is that it is walking distance to the town center and to the tour boat area.  Nice walking trail to and from.  We walked around downtown this evening and grabbed a bite.   Signed up for an all day tour boat trip for Tuesday.

Rain on the drive, but cleared up when we got here.   Temps around 60 today.
